CBD Recipes to Celebrate the Holidays
This is the time of year for family gatherings, celebrations and cheer. While we understand that festivities are going to look a bit different this year, we do not believe different means bad, it’s just different, and infusing your holiday recipes with an edible CBD tincture or oil is one way to make your food and drinks just as unique as the rest of the year has been.
With CBD becoming more readily available, incorporating it into daily routines is a quickly growing trend. The key to sticking to any regime is finding a method that works for you. How about adding it to food!
Can you cook with CBD?
The simple answer is yes! But there are a few factors you’ll want to keep in mind.
The temperature factor. High heat can cause cannabidiol (CBD) to break down, making it ineffective and also bitter. CBD has a boiling point of 320-356 degrees so we recommend keeping prolonged cooking temperatures to under 340 degrees. Adding CBD to salad dressings, frostings, sauces (after removed from heat) and cocktails are a few foolproof methods for incorporating CBD into your recipes without compromising its effectiveness.
The quality factor. Be sure to use only high-quality edible CBD from a reputable source in your recipes. Steer clear from products that have extra additives and unnecessary ingredients. Look for brands that offer third-party lab testing to ensure they are providing a quality product.
The dosage factor. Knowing the potency of your product is just as important as knowing its ingredients. Even though CBD won’t get you ‘high’, it can have different effects on everyone. Keep in mind that a serving of high-potency oil will have greater effects than a serving of oil with a lower concentration. To optimize maximum enjoyment, we suggest starting small. You can always add more later.
The time factor. In edible form, CBD slowly releases during digestion. It can take longer to feel than other methods of consumption but the effects of an edible last substantially longer too. Keep in mind that weight, age, sex, metabolism and diet can influence how quickly your body absorbs CBD.
The fat factor. Cannabidiol is fat-soluble — meaning it doesn’t dissolve in water. For best results, use in a recipe that contains butter or oil. For cocktails, it’s best to use a tincture (water-soluble) vs an oil (fat-soluble).

Sweet CBD Recipes
Blueberry Cinnamon Rolls by Crazy For Crust can warm up the coldest winter morning! This shortcut method takes little prep time and can easily be made into a CBD breakfast casserole. Keeping the Temperature Factor in mind, we recommend mixing CBD into the icing before drizzling it on top of the hot rolls. Mix well, making sure the CBD is fully incorporated into the icing. Try heating the icing in the microwave for a few seconds before adding the tincture. This will make the stirring process go a lot smoother. Our Blueberry Citrus Tincture would give the icing a delicious sweet citrusy zing.
CBD Drink Recipes
Apple cider is a seasonal staple. This recipe gives the holiday classic a twist by adding mint and rum, turning it into an Apple Cider Mojito. Try adding a dose of CBD in the beginning, while muddling the mint. We suggest using our Cinnamint CBD tincture to give the fresh mint and spicy cider an even bigger flavor boost.
For all that late-night, last-minute gift wrapping, try this boozy coffee drink, Santa’s Nightcap, and give yourself the caffeine kick you need to power through. We suggest stirring our Cinnamint Tincture into the cocktail just before topping with whipped cream.
The Whole Smiths have a Thanksgiving punch edible CBD recipe that comes with instructions for a CBD option. We love the idea of a batch cocktail for a gathering and our Tangerine Cranberry CBD Tincture would perfectly compliment the cranberry and orange juice this recipe calls for.
CBD’s popularity is growing daily and it seems like just about everything comes CBD-infused. So why not food? Cooking with CBD is a fun way to play with flavors and get creative while receiving all the wellness benefits cannabidiol (CBD) has to offer.
